Evite Announces Beta Launch of Evite 2.0: The Ultimate Social Planning Destination Online

Public Events, Activity Listings And Community Tools Populate the Newest Version of Evite

Los Angeles - November 13, 2003 - Evite announced today the public beta launch of Evite 2.0, a product that propels the web's leading free online invitation service into the world's definitive social planning destination. Evite 2.0 provides users with the opportunity to create listings for public events and activities, search a Public Events Directory, communicate personal interests through the creation of individual ‘My Info' Pages, as well as access to other community tools such as publicly posting messages and emailing hosts or invitees.

The beta launch also features a complete re-design of the site with a new navigation toolbar and easy access to the key features: Private Events, Public Events, and Activity Listings. Private event planning, Evite's core service to date, continues to see 100 percent year on year growth. The final Evite 2.0 product is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2004.

"The beta deployment of these new services is a response to market need and user feedback," said John Foley, president of Evite. "As we began to develop Evite 2.0, research indicated that people want to have a single resource to find information about fun local events. Furthermore, our event hosts have been asking us to provide them with the ability to post events to a broader audience. Evite is now the one place where people can find everything online to make the most of their time offline."

Upon registering online at www.evite.com, users will now be able to select the following options:

  • Create An Evite: Users can create an Evite for a Private Event (through the Wizard or Evite Classic) or a Public Event. Users can also post Activity Listings for things such as tennis, workshops, volunteering, etc. Features for planning events include creation tools, RSVP management, event reminders, polling, payment collection, design customization features and an address book.
  • My Evite: Through the creation of My Info pages, My Evite is the place where users can display personal interests to the Evite community. This section also features a customized list of events and activities to attend based on the user's interests and location. Users have the option to include links to their My Info page next to their RSVP's for Public and Private Events, thereby stimulating community interaction and buzz around that event. Other new features include a personal calendar and the ability to upload a photo.
  • Find A Get Together: Users have the option to browse events through an easy to use Public Events Directory, enabling local performers, artists, venues, community groups and other public event hosts to promote their events to the site's active five million users. Users can also view the "Most Popular Get Togethers", searching by zip code and radius, or browsing by six pre-selected categories including Community, Discussion, Leisure, Lifestyle, Nightlife or Sports. (This tool will become more robust as beta users post public events and activities in the directory. A full directory will be available when final product launches.)
